Synchronization

How to see which folder will be synchronized?

Best is to launch the Log Monitor (DAO4Sync System Tray icon) to see if the Synchronization Engine in handling refresh operations. Wait until all operations have been finished.

When I connect DAO4Sync ME the very first time to my mobile, the Synchronization Engine synchronizes all the files from the mobile to the DAO4Sync Drive. Is it also possible to pinpoint the folders which should be synchronized and which not?

The default behavior of the Synchronization Engine is to synchronize all files and folders from your mobile to your PC. The launched progress dialog will show you the progress of the copying process.

It is also possible to configure the Synchronization Engine in the way to only synchronize "user selected files". That means, only the folder structure will be created and not the files within. You can now select the folder of your choice which will be also has synchronized files via selecting the "activate synchronization" context menu item for this folder. Afterwards you will see how the Synchronization Engine copies all files from the mobile to your PC for this folder.

Deleting Files

Deleting files will synchronize the files first from the mobile to the PC, afterwards finally deleting them. Why they won't be deleted directly?

Deleting without pressing the Shift key means moving the files to your Recycle Bin. If the files do not exist within your DAO4Sync Drive or are out of sync, they will be copied to your DAO4Sync Drive first. This takes more time but you have the chance doing an undo from the Recycle Bin in a failure case.

If you delete the files pressing the Shift key, the files will be deleted directly without synchronizing them first.

Red Crossed Files

A file identified by the "red cross" will not be synchronized; can I delete it worry-free, without deleting it also on mobile side?

You can delete the file on PC side; the Synchronization Engine will recreate the file and the file content, when you do a folder refresh. But be aware, if you delete the file with pressing the shift key, the file will be deleted on your mobile, also if the file is identified by the "red cross" on PC side.

It will do a standby mode if there is no active connection to DAO4Sync Mobile Edition on your PC. Doing automatic waking up if needed.
